Had such a great time at the Up and Coming Show! Everyone was fantastic. $25 for a fun evening is totally worth it. I can't wait to come to more shows! *** Edit. This show has a new headliner each week. There are some overlapping acts from show to show, but with the crowd work in such an intimate surrounding it's bound to be entertaining.
My husband and I are a comedy magician duo act, and we recently moved to Chicago from Los Angeles. I did not know anyone when we arrived, but my husband is a Chicago native who got his start in the Second City Teen Ensemble. He encouraged me to take classes here to meet people and strengthen my improv skills, something I had been wanting to do for a long time. From the moment I started, I felt incredibly welcomed. It is a supportive environment where I never feel afraid to try, experiment, or learn, even starting improv at 35. Kerry, Izzy, and Mark were fantastic teachers for Levels 1, 2, and 3. Each of them brings a unique teaching style that helped me grow not only as an improviser but also as a magician, performer, and person. My class just moved up to Level 4 with Terrance, and I am excited to continue learning. We only got to know him for 3 hours, but I already know I’m gonna have fun in his class! The instructors here are truly incredible, and the community they create makes it such a rewarding place to study improv!
