Edit… A manager responded to me in email and is looking into why this happened and made good with me. He was very nice and professional. So I’m updating my post and stars but keeping the original so people still can be aware to check before paying. First time at the funny bone for me and my husband. Didn’t know it was in the mall but finally found it. Went to see Gary Owen 10/19/25. Seating was tight and you shared small tables with strangers. Ordered drinks and food. The food took a long time and came out before we even got our drinks. Then towards the end of the show they come around for payment with a handheld payment machine. We gave a card and select 25% tip. It’s very dark and you can’t see your tab we just trust the venue. Looked at the tab when we left and it already had an auto gratuity on it for 22%. Why would they hand you a machine asking for you to select your tip if they already added one. Then I thought maybe it just switched it from the auto gratuity 22% to the selected 25%? Nope, our bill was charged both. I’m a good tipper, I’m in the industry with tipping. But 47% when the service was slow and she only came back once for a second round of drinks is crazy. One meal each and 2 drinks each. Beware of the auto gratuity!
Many years ago Columbus had more options, but I believe the Funny Bone is the only consistent venue left. I gave it four stars on that count. There is a nice attached bar, which is open to anyone regardless if you’re seeing a show or not, and it’s convenient for pre or post show drinks. The food is mediocre, so it’s advised to eat ahead of time unless you just want to munch. Also research the comedians carefully. We’ve seen some decent acts, but just came off one of the worst ever with Sheryl Underwear who preached politics rather than being funny. If you’re going political, at least make it humorous. As a tip, the earlier you order your tickets, the better the seats.
