New Talent Night on Tuesdays at Comedy Works South.
This venue basically guarantees you’ll have a worse time than expected. Great comics, but the WORST venue I’ve ever been to. Firstly, the seats are so small, close together, and uncomfortable that you feel like you’re on an airplane. They pack you in like sardines and sacrifice your experience to maximize their profits. Even if you’re skinny you’ll be bumping elbows with the person next to you. There are seats that never get a good view of the comedian due to columns, and if there is anybody tall in front of you, you’re out of luck for the rest of the show. Secondly, they force you to purchase two items on an insanely overpriced menu (again, feels like an airplane). You are guaranteed to miss at LEAST one joke from the comics, since the waiters constantly go back and forth in front of you, interrupting you, blocking your view, etc. It’s ridiculous. Just add the extra cost to the ticket, it’s plenty worth the extra cost to not be bothered and be able to enjoy the show. To top it all off, you don’t even have anywhere to put your food you’re forced to buy other than your lap. I don’t know how this place hasn’t changed their ways or even made an attempt to make the experience better for their customers. Go anywhere else to see your comedians.
Firetrap waiting to happen... the stage is in the basement, with the kitchen, and you are packed in like sardines, sitting literally shoulder to shoulder next to people that you don't know, on hard little plastic chairs. Staff walk up and down the aisles trying their best not to disrupt, but required to take orders due to the 2 drink minimum requirement. It's clear that the goal is to pack more people in for more profits, but at the cost of safety?
